Being social is no longer a conversation over the garden gate!

Hi folks, Benny here!

Since our ‘sours’ launch in January we’ve been so busy; causing a storm on social media, keeping up with ‘current trends’ and basically having a jolly good time!

But in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past month or so, I’ll get you up to speed with the latest happenings!

A quick heads up!

As an OAP the concept of the World Wide Web can be complex to say the least but in recent weeks we’ve opened our own Twitter account and I can safely say it’s been pretty fun!

Whilst some (aka me) have picked up the concept better than others (aka Frau) we have all been taking it in turns to Tinned UKIP babies‘tweet’.

And I tell you what people love creating a fuss on social media. Whilst I would never dream of partaking in such behaviour – watching it isn’t half amusing!

Last month, for some reason unbeknown to me, a company decided to stuff our younger counterparts in a tin! Yes, a tin and labelled them ‘Tinned UKIP Babies’ – now excuse me but I didn’t think it was PC to label people these days!!

Whilst being treated like a baked bean may seem a laugh for some, biting a baby’s head off seems barbaric! I mean, come on… biting the head off a Jellyatric would be far more pleasing surely!

Ok, Ok I may come across a little sour, that I’m not making national news on the Independent online, but to give them credit the Ukip Jelly babies certainly got people talking!

Flipping brilliant!

Another thing I love about social media is how people are engaging with us and making a commotion!Jellyatrics Pancake

First Jellyatrics Sours were reviewed by blogger Grocery Gems and given an 8 outta 10. Then we made our debut on Sweet Retailing – the ultimate source for confectionery retailers!

And don’t even get me started on all the hype we’ve received on Twitter!

I know I keep harping on about Twitter but I do believe it’s going to be the next big thing!

For Pancake Day we were bombarded with pictures of us as pancake toppings.    Whilst classing this as fan mail may seem a tad extreme … I do believe it’s somewhere close! Let’s be honest – the pictures are flipping brilliant (excuse the pun).

On another note…

I do feel I need to acknowledge, to put the rumours to rest, the new relationship I have formed with Gogglebox’s Leon and June.

As a fellow northern lothario I decided to send some Jellyatrics Leon’s way and can I just say ‘I made his day’ (they have even followed us on Twitter!)

Even though the producers at Channel 4 saw potential in me and contemplated ditching June – I can confirm that I turned down the opportunity to star in the upcoming series of Gogglebox.

You’re never too old for a little romancing

I would like to take a moment to talk about a role I am more suited to – The Most Loveable Jellyatric.

In the week leading up to Valentines Day we held a small competition between the 5 of us to decide who was “The Most Loveable Jellyatric”. We ran the competition on our Facebook page (yes we have Facebook too) and the winner, unsurprisingly… was myself!

I’m such a loveable old soul – I don’t mean that in an egotistic way. But Pearl always tells me so!

Gransnet 50 shades of greyFor Valentines Day I took Pearl to the pictures and we ended up watching   “50 Shades of Grey”. We didn’t know what it was but as we’ve been grey for years we thought it would be a giggle. But much to our dismay there wasn’t a pensioner in sight!

It was ‘interesting’ viewing nonetheless.

The next day Pearl was browsing her beloved Gransnet and came across ’50 Shades of Gransnet’ and I tell you what, if this isn’t a good read… I don’t know what is! OAPs – enjoy!

That’s all for now! Doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun!

Cheerio, Benny.
